SUPPORTERS NEEDED TO A FILL BUS TO TRENTON THURSDAY FOR NJ ASSEMBLY VOTE ON PACKAGE OF GUN SAFETY BILLS
 
Assembly Vote is Thursday February 21
 
This week, the New Jersey Assembly's Law & Public Safety Committee voted in favor of 20 proposals for reducing gun violence in the state, doing so over the objections of the many vocal gun rights advocates and NRA supporters in attendance. The bills will now go to the full Assembly for a vote on Thursday.

 

 

We need your commitment to attend the vote next week!

One thing that was glaring at this week's hearing was how vastly gun safety advocates were outnumbered - by about 50 to 1 - by supporters of the NRA and gun manufacturers committed to preventing any new legislation no matter how reasonable. We know that this does not accurately reflect the views of New Jersey citizens -  who do support common sense gun regulations like those being propsed by wide margins of up to 75%.

The Assembly leadership has asked for a better turnout from the gun violence prevention side for the vote on Thursday. The session will begin at 1pm and we need people to arrive early to submit their name to speak in favor of the bills.  Attendees should plan to stay for the entire day, if possible.
  
  

Bus Transportation available to Trenton:

 

BlueWaveNJ is arranging for bus transportation to make it easier for supporters from norther New Jersey to travel to Trenton Thursday. Ther will be two pick-up locations: in West Orange, and just off the Garden State Parkway, Exit 135 (Clark/Westfield), Target parking lot.

Arrive NJ Statehouse at 11:00am

Assembly session begins at 1:00pm

Bus will leave Trenton following the Assembly vote; we should return to northern NJ by 6:00pm at latest.

Legislation like this is what we ask for when we rally and march and write and call. Many states hold rallys and receive nothing from their legislators in return. Ours have shown tremendous courage and strength in acting swiftly and strongly on our behalf, and we must support them by being in the Statehouse  on Thursday for this vote.  It is so important that we show our elected officials that we will support them for supporting us!
